HOW TO FIND GOD

Did you ever wonder how people that you know can have such a deep love for God and yet you feel nothing? You know that God exists but you do not know how to obtain that closeness that others seem to have. Well don't despair! The fact that you realize that something is missing in your spiritual life and that others have something that you do not yet understand is a good sign! You are on the way to finding the same love. How can I find God in my life? When you have some quiet time (whether it is lying in bed at night or during the day), tell God that you want to know Him and that you want to become closer to Him. Ask Him to convert you and make you more pleasing in His sight. You may even want to ask God to put someone in your life to help you with your spiritual journey.

Get a Bible if you don't have one, and start reading St. Luke or the Acts of the Apostles. Read a chapter a day.
Get in the habit of saying a short prayer upon waking and prior to retiring for the night. (Find a spot in your bedroom where you can pray). As soon as you wake up go to the spot and say a morning offering prayer (add your personal thoughts to God as well). At night, before getting into bed, go to your spot and say your nighttime offerings. At nighttime, reflect on your day and your actions. Were they pleasing to God? Did you offend God in any way?

MORNING OFFERING PRAYER
O my God, I adore you, and I love you with all my heart.
I thank you for having created me, having saved me by your grace,
and for having preserved me during the night. I offer you all my
prayer, works, joys, and sufferings of this day. Grant that they
may be all according to your will and for your greater glory. Keep me
from all sin and evil, and may your grace be with me always and with
those I love.

PRAYER AT BEDTIME
O my God, I adore you, and I love you with all my heart.
I thank you for having created me, having saved me by your grace,
and for having preserved me during this day. I pray that you will take
for yourself whatever good I might have done this day, and that you
will forgive me whatever evil I might have done. Protect me this night,
and may your grace be with me always and with those I love.
  • If you have not been to confession in a long while, prepare yourself and go. Plan your confession as if you will be speaking directly with God (Don't forget to say a prayer to the Holy Spirit prior to your confession in order to remember your sins).

  • When you have time, perhaps on lunch break at work or on the weekend, go to church and sit and listen to the silence and the peace of God's house. If you have worries or problems tell them to God as if He were sitting right next to you. Soak in the silence and peace of God's house. We sometimes do not realize how busy and complicated we make our lives. We must find time in our life for peace and quiet so that we can hear God speak to us.

  • Be patient, one day very soon, you will be hit by an awareness that you never knew existed. Your eyes will be opened, your heart will be on fire, and love will burn inside of you like you never imagined. When this happens, you will realize that nothing on this earth will ever compare to the grace that God has given you.

  • To know God's son, one must know His mother Mary. Learn the Rosary, say one decade a day at first and then try to work up to 5 decades. Ask Mary to help you learn more about her son. No one knows a son better than a mother.
Please know that we are praying for you and your conversion here at our web site. May God bless you and may His love burn inside of you forever!
