THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

(Q): Does anyone still observe the Ten Commandments?
(A):
For many years the Ten Commandments have been used as a form of moral teaching. As you know, the Ten Commandments were given to Moses by God on Mt. Sinai after exiting Egypt. These Commandments were the rules that God expected the Hebrews to follow and they are the rules that we are to follow as well.
In this day and age the teachings of the Ten Commandments barely exist anymore. Many Catholics steal, commit adultery, lie, lust, are filled with envy, worship money and material things, take the Lord's name in vain, skip mass on Sunday and Holy days, do not honor our mother and father, and finally, commit abortions. Do you think that God is pleased with us? Do we not resemble the Hebrews who were delivered from bondage in Egypt? Despite seeing the great things God did for them, the Hebrews erected a golden calf to worship in place of the God that delivered them. We know there is a God, but are we numb to His commands?

Does God expect us to remember all this? God wants us to try. He wants us to change so that the world around us will change. Do not be alarmed if you were unaware that something on this page you did was a sin; seek the confessional. Confession is one of the greatest gifts God has given us (see Confession). Not only does God bestow many graces upon those who attend the sacrament; He also has given us a confessor that represents Him on earth, to console and guide us so that we may sin no more. Never forget the Lord's mercy (see Mercy). He loves you despite your sins and He will never abandon you. Go to Him. Confess your sins. He loves you and wants you to be in Heaven with Him one day.
